We will build a working model railroad and SOMEBODY will get to take it home with them!\nThere are five slots only in this activity. We will:\n– Select a board. Paint it or cover it in preparation for the track.\n– Learn about different types of model train track.\n– Build track including a siding and ballast.\n– Connect a power pack and run the train!\n– Learn how model train cars and engines work.\n– Install a building and put lights in it so it can light up.\n– Learn how to do basic wiring.\n– Learn how to do basic scenery.\n– Plaster\, glue\, paint\, and have a messy good time!\nEverybody takes home a gift from HobbyTown.\nAt the end of the series\, we will hold a drawing and give the layout away to one of the participants!\nPrice is $50 for six sessions ($10 per night).\nIncludes two months’ membership in the San Luis Valley Model RR Club.\nTO SIGN UP:\nSign Up at HobbyTown by making a $50 donation to the San Luis Valley Model RR club. SUMMARY:Plaster the East Village
DESCRIPTION:Sunday December 16th\, noonish\, the east village gets plastered! If you like scenery and/or want to learn\, this is a great place to get started. Wear a beater shirt. Bring plastic bowls\, Tupperware\, heavy paper towels (like the shop type)\, or newspaper\, plus masking tape to protect the track\, glue guns\, stirring sticks\, and a good sense of humor. All will be shared. Here are the steps:\n1- Remove cars and structures\, setting them carefully on a table so they don’t get messy.\n2- Ease elevation changes with cardboard\, crumpled paper\, and styrofoam.\n3- Overlay everything with hydrocal-soaked paper towels and newspaper\, giving our ground it’s basic shape.\n4- Do a second layer where needed.\n5- Rough in the lagoon.\n6- Install the last mainline x-over just east of the yard.\nIf the hydrocal dries fast enough\, Matt will do a ground cover 101 mini-clinic.\nWe want to cover everything on the “east” end of the layout\, make a mess\, and have fun doing it. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/740379466337827/
